Dopey

The rain finally arrived and has been falling almost constantly since afternoon. Indoors, the dripping is considerably less, and is confined mostly to my nose. I slept and slept and slept. Then I drank coffee. Now I think I'll sleep some more. How strange it is to be able to load up on coffee and still nod off.

It made me inexplicably happy to read this line from a web page about the Gold Rush era, translated from the French by Google:
"San Francisco is a market on which the gold of the sierra and the goods of the whole world are treated, a cosmopolitan city where “the west meets is”, and which develops quickly."
Ah, to have lived in the days when the west met is! I'd gladly have given up ever seeing a Marx Brothers movie, just to have witnessed that!
