Although it continues to be warmer than October usually is, the moderate heat is nothing compared to the torrid summer we've lately endured, and the nights remain perfect, which means the mornings are very nice, too. The air continues to be fresh, as well, thanks to an absence of any nearby fires. But it looks like we won't be getting any significant rain anytime soon. There's a 20% chance predicted for next Saturday, but such predictions have a way of not working out. That means I'll still have to drag the garden hose around the yard now and then, but not as frequently as I had to in August. The milder temperatures allow the ground to stay damp longer, and gives the plants less stress.|
There will be no moon tonight, and the sky is clear, so it will be a good night for cooling off outdoors and watching the stars. The feral cats will probably be glad of the company, especially the one who was sick over the weekend. He appears to be largely recovered, and rubbed against my pant legs a few times after eating a bit of dinner. I haven't had my diner yet, having unwisely stuffed myself on pie late this afternoon. I'll probably be hungry enough to eat a sandwich in an hour and a half or so. I don't want to leave it too late, as last night I fell asleep not long after one o'clock, and slept for about seven hours, so I didn't take a nap today. I'm hoping I'll have a repeat of that pattern tonight. Only tonight I hope I remember to turn off the computer before going to sleep. It ran all night last night.
Oh, and I have to remember to put the wheelie bins out for tomorrows trash collection. There's a lot of yard waste going out this week, but there are still quite a few leaves that wouldn't fit in them, so I'll be stuffing them again quite soon. The long range forecast isn't predicting any more big windstorms, so maybe there'll be a bit less to rake over the next couple of weeks, giving me time to catch up with the leaves I've still got from the last storm. Maybe it's a good thing there isn't going to be rain. Dry leaves are a lot easier to deal with than damp leaves.
Oh, I don't think pie is ever a mistake! Eat it while you've got it, is my motto. *g* My son and I were discussing this at dinner on Sunday. I used to be a cake person (like being a cat person) but was "converted" to pie by Gerry's eternal devotion to same. Now I have a hankering for peach pie. Well, too bad. :D
Glad the kitty is better! Hope you remembered to set out the bins for pick-up.
It's cool at night here too now, thanks be to the weather gods.
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any
pudding pie. How can you have any pudding pie if you don't eat your meat?
I like cake, but it's too bothersome to bake, and store bought cakes are usually too big and go stale before I can finish them. These days I get my cake primarily in the form of donuts, which are not exactly cake but are close enough.

LJ used to allow a preview view of comments, but I don't think we can do that anymore. Nice HTML! ;)
