The Big Wet [Nov. 1st, 2008|10:28 pm]
Yesterday the rain fell intermittently. Today it was almost continuous, and at times copious. I listened to the downpours while sitting on the porch. The gray light was splendid, and the cool air was the freshest it's been in months. I'm enjoying the rain while I can— not because it will soon be over, but because the long term forecast predicts that it could stay around for quite a while, which means I'm likely to get sick of it before it ends. But I can always remind myself that it's filling the lakes so I'll have something to drink next summer.

Despite the rain, the gray cat managed to get to the back porch and eat dinner tonight. Apparently he's decided that getting wet is better than missing a meal. Or maybe he's decided that getting wet to eat all the available food is better than letting any of his rivals get any of it. Kitties.

I almost forgot that I get an extra hour tonight because the clocks go back! Though in reality I probably won't get the extra hour tonight, since I'll probably stay awake about the same number of hours I did last night, so I'll actually get the extra hour tomorrow afternoon, which means it will feel like dinner is late and I'll get cranky. I wish they'd pick a time and stay with it.

Out of energy now. My new computer chair is a bit too low, and tires my back quickly. I'll look around for a cushion of some sort when I get the chance.

oops, i got my wires crossed! so sorry. shouldn't respond to lj posts when i'm just barely awake.

but it was a gorgeous day here yesterday, up into the 70s and clear. the dc/baltimore smog doesn't allow many of that kind of day.

gray cat cracks me up. talk about your dog in the manger!

I wouldn't be surprised to get a day or three in the 70s here later this month. Summer's ghost often comes back to haunt us in November.

Gray cat is out there right now, making sure nothing edible gets past him. He's already emptied his bowl once this evening, but he knows I sometimes serve more.
